For My Days Were Said To Be— by Katrenia Grace Busch
For my days were said to be—
Short in number and time,
This I said— a tragedy
For my life— be but a shadows design
Only when the light be here—
Are my days then ever seen,
Dependent on it to even appear
Dependent to be too been!
For my days be immovable,
As a shadow is to day—
That is to say— but an anvil
To the hammer’s swing and sway
Only when the night be gone—
When it’s said goodbye,
Temporarily— as is dusk and dawn
Noticed as the Earth is to sky!
For my days be forced to follow,
The day that leads by light
For my days be but a shadow
Where stars appear to write
Only when the stars appear
To twinkle upon the sky—
To write my fate— to guide, to steer
The ship by sea and night
For my days be written by,
The stars— who in shadow reside
When the day is sleeping and has said goodnight
To the dusky earth it where it hides
